Default Fork Oil

What is the correct grade oil for the forks on a 08 Fat Bob? Do all bikes use the same grade oil?

It depends on how much you weigh and how stiff you want your front end. I went with Amsoil Shock Therapy 10W. and it's working good for me. I was told factory is 5W light, the 10W is medium.

If your front seems "bouncy" go with heavier oil as it will increase rebound, I have 15W in mine.

I added heavy (20w) to my front end with the hopes of it helping to relieve some of the diving under braking. No such chance. Also made the ride very stiff up front. I initially grabbed a 10w or 15w and the indy shop suggested the 20w. Oddly enough the 20w was cheaper than the 10/15w so it wasn't about him making more money.

I have Progressive springs and use a 20W.

Ride is a little to stiff for me. Grabs the road like crazy, but does cause some harshness.

I am going back to a 10W when I change out the front tire again.
