I really am at a loss. First I have to ride it some more to make sure I'm not hearing things. Second.....dunno if I should call HD or ride it all summer or trade it in. If it's really going bad again, I have no confidence they will ever fix it. And there is no reason why I should bring the bike in now just to have it sit for weeks during riding season. Maybe I can get HD to give me a great deal on a new Road King. I just dont know what to do......
I'm having the inner primary repaired for the 2nd time on my 06 SB, The dealership ordered the parts to do the big fix and it seems that Harley has redesigned the transmission case again, the 2nd case design apparently didn't correct the problem they are having with inner primary bearings.

This is news to me. Can you elaborate? Does anybody know anything about this? When I get back in touch with harley, I want to make sure I know what I'm talking about. I was out tonight, and when the bike is hot it's acting up. Even not playing with the clutch the inner primary sounds loud and I can hear itr when I'm riding.

All I can add to what I previously posted is the parts number for the transmission case that is now being used for replacement, I asked the parts manager what the changes where but he didn't know.
Thanks for all the info, I feel much better now. I only have 6000 on my bike and no problems yet. I do have a 7yr warranty but that doesn't seem to matter because HD is repairing the issue even if your out of warranty.
I want to build the motor but seems HD could say the tranny wasn't designed to handle that. I really like my bike though so hope there is a solution to this issue.
What a kick in the ***** ... I just bought an 06 Dyna with 38 miles on it. [You did not misread that... Thirty-Eight Miles] I'm the second owner. Thanks for posting the letters ... I'll need them. <groan>
charlie; What's the full story behind that lo-mile Dyna?
Sorry for the delay in reply... From what I was told, it was a mid life crisis.. bought new (or maybe a leftover in '07), and driven home by a friend of the owner in New Jersey.
It sat in a shed or a garage until it was traded in for a new car. Two days on Craigs list.. and I looked at it in person, struck while the poker was hot... Bike is mine.

Maybe not...the second half of the model year has the cases with the dowels.
