A few questions, Why would you take it to a metric dealer...you looking to buy one? I don't know to many dealers that would just buy it for cash and not want you to trade it in on something new. And why wouldn't you go to a HD dealer? Are you looking to just get rid of the bike altogether? Whats up with the bearings? I have a '07 w/11'000 on it and haven't had any problems with any of the bearings. I would go through Ebay and Craigslist or even the paper first. Unless your hurting for some cash, I would hold onto it!
Way cheaper to replace the bearings than sell it for nothing.
you gotta love all of this metric love that's going on here....
I stopped at my local Honda dealer this weekend... looking for a small horn...
they had two new Furys... might I say they looked like one of those cheep china made bikes... was not impressed at all....
as far as the Yamaha... looks to much like a Victory for me....
but if your into that...go for it...
IMO we need to thin the herd....
LOL "thin the heard", hey, I wish I wasn't part of the heard!
Honestly... the Fat Bob was the only bike I wanted to buy to replace my Honda Shadow Sabre (POS bike, I'm telling ya. Never buy another Honda long as I live. But... the type of bike was correct I.E. Handing and such) My biggest issue getting a Fat Bob was, Harley people! I don't want to be one of you. I'm not a Harley fanboy. I hate the lot of you. You're morons x2.
Plenty of people own and ride Harleys because it's the best bike for them. I love those people. (They do make some nice bikes!)
Others "won't ride a bike if it's not a Harley" and they should all die in a fire. Drink the cool-aid boys. Harley is a publicly owned company, and most of the stock owners ARE NOT FROM HERE. Get over it. Just knowing someone might mistake me for one of "them" drives me nuts. Honest to god I wish my Fat Bob was made by Yamaha...
if you fell for his trick he would shurly double his money (his cost for wax and paper work ) I would have it thrown in on top of me when i die or burn it before sell it to some low ball mooch or flee bay, craigslist hopeing to get lucky
$7500 is too low for your bike, consider a private sale if you want to sell it, you'll get more for it.
The bike is paid off, running strong and I think I'll keep it. I still like it. Maybe trade up a couple years to a new Road King this fall. We'll see what happens.
Trading a Harley at a metric dealer is like trading a Corvette at a Kia dealer. ..... Saw pics. of the new Honda Fury. Love my FXDC so far but if the Fury had come out last year before I purchased the Sportster I would have taken a serious look.
Gotta agree on the first point.
The later? Seriousely? That Fury is one UUUUuugly copy of a chopped Harley.
If you've gotta sell your HD sell privately. You would get $13,000 USD easy for that up here in Canada. Probably worth $11K - $12K down there. It's just trying to find a buyer. Lot's of guys up in Canada with cash for a sweet collector bike like yours. Ship it to me, I'll send you an envelope.
I don't know about where you guys live but the Harley dealers around me have always MSRP dealers. They don't deal or didn't until maybe now. I know, I tried, it's always been if you don't someone else will. And these dealers have been in business for a long time so someone else always does. This is what bugs me about a lot of Harley guys, if you don't ride a Harley then you're a low life. I personally know a few. I never knock anyone because of what they ride. All bikes, and I mean ALL BIKES, have their good points and bad points. I've never been unhappy with any bike I've owned. Just riding a bike, ANY BIKE, makes me feel good. It's to bad a lot of people who are stuck on one make of bike can't feel the same. But this is the Dyna forum so maybe we're getting off topic a little.
imho. All of our bikes are losing value because of this weak economy. But if you can buy another bike, metric, harley, whatever, and keep the wg. I think the wg will retain or appreciate in value as the years pass. I would be surprised to see harley return the bike to the line except for a possible cvo. That's only going to make the bike more sought after in years to come. I certainly understand the bearing probs, my 07 wg has 19000 miles on it and has developed a disturbing low end rattle. However I'll take the ocasional trip to the dealer for a new bearing to have the power and aesthetics the bike offers. I own both a metric and the hog. 78 honda cx 500 and the wg. Before the wg I had a 04 shadow spirit. I could push it faster up vail pass than that thing would carry me. That seems to be a problem with all the metric cruisers I've test ridden. They just don't perform as well as harleys. But the downside is our air cooled 96 monsters are running way hot and burning out bearings.

Dude. Chill out.
I love my Harley and generally I don't like Japanese cruisers. I think the Polaris made Victory bikes look cheap.
I would definitely ride a Ducati, Triumph or a BMW. I like well made stuff. And I hate plastic (except in *****).
But, you can drop the cheap shots at my brothers. This IS a HARLEY DAVIDSON forum. We mostly LOVE THEM around here.
And we all know a 'busa is a fast bike. So don't even start with that crap!
