Whos bright idea was it to put the front motor mount under the oil filter?

Just that it seems that the motor mount is wore out already. Its an 07 street Bob. I figure with all the oil changes it seems to shorten the lifespan of the isolater. Maybe just a NooB brain fart.

Looks like i can slide a jack under the motor and change em out. But the back one may be a bit harder. Or should i just take her in?

If the mounts are bad, and the dealer agrees (always a crapshoot) I'd let them eat a slice of warranty pie.

Otherwise, if you're comfortable with it, go for it.

10,000 **** i hope more than that cause iam pushing 30,000 almost and haven't replaced either of them. and the bikes not 2yrs old. I had them look them both over last year and they said ok. Iam beginning to wonder though as i think theres more vibration now then before all the miles iam going to have them check them out this month when i take it in for cpl items i need taken care of on warranty before it expires i got the extended but then its $50 bucks a pop.

But you are right oil and rubber don't mix i try to lay rags over the mount when i take the filter off to keep some of it off the rubber but doesn't always work and sometimes it get oil all over it.

All you have to do is clean the oil off with some brakekleen or simple green and rinse well with warm water. It's just a piece of rubber. Now the guys who are total slobs and don't clean their bike...well they can replace the isolators all the time......... j/k
