I have never ridden without earplugs (I've tried every kind...even the cusom molded ones), I use a windshield on longer rides, and I've done some creative mods to a couple of helmets to quiet them down. And I still have ear damage (constant ringing). Maybe I just have sensitive ears, but I fight that issue constantly and have not found an absolute solution.

Either use ear plugs or if it's legal get a set of marshmallow headphones don't know who makes them and plug in your ipod. It seems to work but may not be legal everywhere.

The marshmallow headphones are available at Best Buy and Walmart.

I wear the type of safety glasses (I have both tinted and clear) that have ear plugs attached to the stems similar to http://*******.com/q5umr2

I wear formable wax earplugs sometimes, but most of the time I have my headphones in for long trips.

Used the foam squeezy ear plugs for a while ... sorta a hassle if you ask me. Went to ear doctor and got custom for $80. Expensive, but its been one of the best purchases I've made ... I love them.

You have two choices. Earplugs or eventually closed captioning. You don't have to have loud noises to lose your hearing. Constant moderate noise is enough. Once those little hairs in your inner ear break off they don't grow back.
