Does anyone have the HD Touring Detach Windshield for their Street Bob or is it just ridiculous on this bike?
I will ride 80% of the time without a shield (right now its 100%), but I need to be able to ride the highway for longer than 20 minutes and not feel like i'm getting blown off the bike. Also if it matters for windshield configuration, I will be using forward controls, I'm 6'0 and wear a full face helmet. I tried a windshield on my last bike and the buffeting was awful. But I need to be able to log some highway miles.
Trying to figure out which Dyna to trade to on the ride free promotion. I can't decide, like the FXDC, Street Bob and Fat Bob. But need to be able to turn it into a highway cruiser at times.
Thanks.

I have this windshield and recommend it. While it is not the prettiest, it is effective.
Get the Street Bob but compare all models to see which features you really want -- for me, the blacked out SB (07 model) appealed more to me.

Here's mine with a Memphis Shades Quick Detach. It's the "slim". Had my hubby's old shield that was the "Fat" on it and besides being too tall for me, I thought it a bit too wide. So far I haven't had anyone tell me it looks stupid. In fact I have had quite a few compliments on it. Yeah, I like the looks of the bike better without the shield (or the bags) but on long highway rides I prefer to ride with a shield (and I need storage). TEHO.
I've got the HD touring shield on my 07 bobber. Plan to only use it10% of the time and without 90. Now that I've got it, I use it 95% of the time. Took it off, went about 3miles down the country road from home and went back and put it on. Those mini apes cause me to bucket the wind I think because it was quite uncomfortable for me. I ride with dot helmet and shades and the wind was terrible. I'm hoping against fate that raising the tank 2" MAY have a positive effect on the wind buffetting.
I must say, I wish the headlight cutout wasn't so generous when using the HD touring version with the 07 dyna street bobber. I'm trying to figure out if closing up the gap between windshield and headlight will make an appreciable difference.
I don't have the HD touring windshield, but I have the HD QD Low Profile on my '09 Street Bob. After making several adjustments for the height and angle, most of the buffetting is gone.
It stays on the bike probably 90% of the time....and has spoiled the hell out of me.
