First let me say I searched and found a lot on oil but not what I'm looking for.
I'm going to go get oil today and I wasn't sure what to get. Let me make it easy, I want to use Mobil 1. If I don't use synthetic what should I get and do I use the same for "all 3 holes"?
If I do go Mobil 1 synthetic do I use the same for "all 3 holes"?
Thanks.
amsoil tests the best(their results vs other oils are on their website)... 10w40 dino or B&M trickshift in the primary, 75-90(140) in the tranny.
If you use amsoil, 20w50 in engine and tranny. Amsoil does say you can use their 20w50 in all 3 holes. Really don't think it matters all that much... make a decision and try it out. I just put the trickshift in my primary, it is really smooth compared to the H-D formula1 I replaced it with.
I live in Florida, for my next oil change I am going to run a straight 50wt and see how it does(maybe quieter well see).
If you put mobil 1 in all three, make sure it is the motorcycle oil, at least for the primary.
If going gear lube in the tranny, go with a 75-110 or higher. 140 is very common.

Mobil 1 V-twin 20/50 for the engine. 75/140 for the tranny.
I'm not yet convinced that synthetic is the way to go for the primary, but it would take the same weight as the engine.
If I wasn't using syn, I'd probably use Castrol for the bike.
I filled all her holes with Amsoil 20w50 and she runs smooth as silk. If you are going Mobil 1, make sure it is the Mobil 1 V-Twin 20w50 motorcycle oil like others stated and fill all her 3 holes up with it and forget about it!
Use whatever motor oil you want for the motor, gear lube like 75w140 for the tranny, and the cheapest 10w40(no friction modifiers) or red ATF you can find for the primary. It's nuts to use super high-priced syn oil in the primary, where all you're doing is lubing and cooling the chain and clutch. Why red ATF? So if you develop a leak, you know what's leaking.
