I noticed some scratches on my primary case, just behind the derby cover. Figured out that it was from the speed-lace hook on my boots, when I flick the stand down. I'm wondering if the extension would help get my boot further away from the stand?
I'd bet an extension would make it easier to grab and keep your boot further away from your primary. But it looks like the average price is $40 for the jiffy stand extension? Seems a bit overpriced, IMO.
I'd rather spend that $40 towards new boots (I'm a fan of harness style pull-ons). No laces, no buckles, no zippers, etc.
Or maybe fab up a homemade extension for testing and see if the extension keeps your current boots away from the primary case?
I have the extension. It helps a little but not as much as you would think. I am glad I got it, it helps me reach the stand and put it down, but you are still right up against the primary.
use your heel to put the stand down... only thing to come into contact with my primary is the edge of my heel. I think I just naturally have my foot pointed out when I put the stand down.

I put one on by FB last week. Keeps me from fishing around for the kick. I like it but it was expensive for what it is. I had a gift certificate though, so I didn't get hit for anything.
