Mine Ricors went in easy, I placed them in the forks and pushed them into place with the fork springs. I pulled the forks tubes off again today (3rd time) and set pre load and oil height per Progressives specs... oil 5.5 inches down from top and cut the spacer to 5/8" above the fork... still clunking...I'm going to try the stock springs and spacer tomorrow to see if that stops the clunking.

Default Clunking noise found

To any of you that might be intrested in what I found to be making the clunking noise in my forks.

I found the upper bushing in my right fork leg was moving up and down, it is a press fit and was for some reason wasn't tight enough in the fork leg...H.D made it good for me at no cost to me even tho my bike is out of warranty. I just finished putting the forks back together with the Ricors and new Progressive fork springs and am very pleased with the improvements to the way the bike handles and rides.

Hey SC...mine went in nice & easy also by using the spring, I can't believe you don't notice much difference with em! Also my brake dive isn't completely gone but they wiped out at least 60 to 70% of it, they made quite a few noticable differences. Maybe something aint right with yours...maybe something to do with why they were so hard to get in? Just throwin it out there!

I appreciate the info Chad. Of course that makes me wonder....how the heck do I get them back out? Ha ha ha. Those buggers aint movin. I mean I'd like to think that the Ricor inserts have better quality control and would all be the same size. What am I gonna do, ship my front end to Ricor and say "here, you deal with it." Ha ha ha. I could understand snug is good but these went in tighter than a new virgin.

I am also having a clunk and I have done both the steering head washer and adjusted fall away to minimum spec and no change.
What did you have to replace, bushing and/or fork housing? I am trying to wrap my head around this because there is a washer, snap ring, seal and dust boot all kind of holding it in place. How did you find the bushing moving up and down?

I havent gotten these yet, so I could be dead wrong, but I wonder if you might have gotten a wrong 'model' insert? As in maybe the shipping guy screwed up or something, though I cant imagine what fork insert they would have thats larger diameter than the 49mm - do they have these same inserts for metric cruisers or sport bikes that you maybe got by mistake?
again just throwin it out there - as I run a dis warehouse and know just how bad shipping guys can screw up first hand.

Brian @ Ricor told me that the MoCo gets forks from showa. Showa has a few different mfg plants and there is no real quality control so some are smaller than others. That's how he explained why my intiminators were so tight going in. He didn't offer any other suggestion. I can check the packaging, as I still have it. I'm not really into disassembling the front end AGAIN, especially now that it's missing handlebars and it's strapped down on a utility trailer. Getting a jack under it would be interesting to say the least. I could probably drop it on the right side and have matching dents.

I would be concerned only if you notice the fork action is sticky. The intiminator is not really going to move around as it rests on the damper tube and spring tension holds it down, however the fork tube needs to slide easily up and down and if there is a lot of friction between the intiminator seal and fork then there may be a problem. Even so, the seal will most likely wear in from the friction because it is a nylon type seal ring. How many miles do you have on them now, did you have any noticeable sticky fork action when you put them in and is it any better now that you have put any miles on them? If you have 49mm forks then any other unit will be too small and if you have the 41mm I doubt if the 49mm would even fit in at all. 07' Wide Glides have 49mm right?

No, doesn't feel sticky. It handles bumps and such like a rock though. Twisties feel good but normal riding is worse than before.

Default Bushing in fork leg

I had to replace the right slider assemby because it was out of round due to the bushing moving around instead of being pressed fit like it should be. I found it when I took the forks apart to inspect them.
