Right now my brand new pcV caused my fatbob to die after the first time i washed it. So I call fuel moto and what do they say "can you take the unit off the bike and see if if it runs again please?" Well it's fine now with the pc off what a load of crap it takes half an hour to get it on there another to take it off,what if I was 200 miles from home --just pull over and remove the unit in the rain next time! I would seriously like to send it back for full credit. I wshed the bike and it was only hesitating,so I find water in the connector from the pcV to the stock connector remove that and apply dielectric grease,and then it got worse she was dying on every corner after three blocks.It wouldn't start until I had the pcV off,and now it runs like a champ. Too much grease? Well I'll clean it out with comp. air but I don't want to be a slave to this pcV unit neither!
You do not need much grease in the connections. I have a PC V on both of my bikes and have not had an ounce of problems with them. Give FuelMoto a chance, their customer service is second to none!

humm... This sounds similar to the problem i had with my bike once. I didnt do anything to it, but its all better, for now... So maybe thats whats up with my bike. Im gonna give it a look see. Give fuel moto a chance... They are a great company, they'll take care of you!
Where do you have your connector located? I installed mine per the directions, but after finishing I did not like that I could see the connector and that it had no protection from water if caught in the rain. Also the connector was pointed down which would allow water to get on the cable and under the connector cover. The next day it took it out removed the battery box and turned the ECM connector around so that it is behind the fuse panel on that shelf on the backside of the fuse panel. I used electrical grease and put everything back together, not only can't you not see the connector now, but it seems to be a location that better protects the connector from water. I have ridden my bike in the rain and washed it 4 times and no problems so far. Now that it is behind the fuse panel I am careful not to spray allot of water in that area which even without the PC-5, I wouldn't do because of the fuses and electrical connections in that area.
I just dealt with "water in the pcIII/ecm connection" issues. Dry out the connection first, then pack the connection with dialectric grease and slap it back together. You're good to go. Also, the tech who did it, put the pcIII in a baggie and ziptied it closed. So even if water gets to it, won't get in it.
I got the water out ,and stood ther for at least 15 minutes with a hair dryer and it seams now I put too much dielectric grease on the connection. Once i had the pc off the bike i can see that it is a pretty well sealed connector,and i'm going to try to put 2 zip ties around the gray and black to see if maybe it won't seal a little better,who knows maybe it vibrated out a little. The unit only has a clip on one side to keep it closed I'm going to suggest they add another clip to ensure the plug stays together.

My instructions for removing the PC from your bike to see if the bike would start was simply the first step in troubleshooting your issue. As you know there are several relays and electrical components in this area which could have got wet and removing the PC from the equasion will greatly narrow down the problem and tell us if it is PC related. We are here to help and as I clearly stated if there is an issue with the unit we will surely take care of it for you without question.
Thanks Jamie i don't mean to sound like a wineing little girl so plese forgive my rant! And I really don't want to give up on it because the machine was running better than with just the download, but it does scare me to think one wash and and i have to go through the hoops. Anyway my second post just above yours has a neat little fix I'm thinking of but a couple zip ties will do in a pinch,maybe the unit originally vibrated out or place and that is how the water got in. I'm trying to think of a way to put that connector in a plastic box to try and keep it even more isolated from elements! Plus the HD dealer told me to ebay the sucker as soon as i could! But Ilike it because She runs good with it and after all i bought it because I beleive in it!

I put mine in a quart sized ziploc bag, with wire coming out of the open end. I bunched up the excess, pulled it tight and put a wire tie around it. No problems with water. Also install it right under the seat so you get to it in a matter of seconds...
I just washed my bike this weekend and after reading this I opened her up to check on the connector and sure enough there was water trapped inside. I have it all taken apart now and dried it with a hairdryer. I went and bought some dielectric grease and will give it till tomorrow after work to be totally dry then put her back together.
davidc how much trouble did you have getting the connector on that "shelf" it doesnt look like much room with all the other connectors that are under the seat.
