Wow.....what a difference. I added the Mustang solo seat with rider backrest today on my '09 fatbob and man what an unbelieveable difference. I only thought I liked my bike before but now I love it LOL. I'm glad I took everyone's advice and tried the Mustang. Install took all of about 5 minutes and I was able to put about 100 miles on it. Before I could only ride the bike 75 miles or so and then I would need to stop. I think with this seat I'll be able to ride tank to tank. Thanks again!
I'll post some pics this weekend. I have a set of Ohlins coming hopefully tomorrow so I am gonna take pics of both mods when I get the shocks installed.
Lee,
would you say the improvement was more in adding the backrest, the new seat, or both new items working together. I'd like to get the seat but not the backrest. Do you think the seat alone will make a difference vs the stock fatbob seat?
Thanks.
I have a SB but will say that the seat alone is a vast improvement over the stock one on mine. I could ride near all day and not have any issues. But one day I found that after 3 hours in the saddle fighting the wind my back ached a little. This past weekend I was in the saddle for 12 hours this time I had the backrest. The wind was blowing hard at times and when I was done I couldn't feel anything. It was like sitting in a car seat, one of the most comfortable rides I've been on. I would definitely get the seat with the back rest. Leave the back rest off for most riding, but for the long haul put it in, you won't be disappointed. I did a lot of reading before I got mine and most people that simply got the seat without the backrest kicked themselves for not getting it, now I know why. Get the one with the backrest.

I would say the seat is a huge improvement over stock in comfort level for the butt. The backrest for me makes a difference in comfort in the fact that I don't have to use my torso to stabilize my body on the bike. Keep in mind that on the fatbob I am riding 95% of the time without a windshield so I am fighting a good deal of wind when on the highways or interstates(usually short 30 minutes runs on these types of roads). For me the backrest was needed because I had a pacemaker installed with some wires run to my neck this past winter and I haven't got my core muscle fully recovered from my surgery. The backrest pulls out very easily so you could use it when needed and remove it when not. For me I wouldn't buy a seat like this without the backrest. It just makes the bike for me a lot more versatile.
Lee...you've been around here long enough. New mod = POST PICS!
I'll get some this weekend. I just got in from another 70 miles or so on the seat. I can't hardly believe I'm riding the same bike. I'm gonna list my fatbob seat on ebay because after riding in this seat I'll never use it again.
