The new ones are EPA noise compliant, and I believe meet the noise laws in all 50 states. But as the OP mentioned not much louder than stock.
But they are exactly what some are looking for.

If you are interested in BCT Baffles for SE slipons, I have a set that I've only had a few months I might be willing to sell ya. I installed them but I still want something different on mine.

I would sell the se mufflers online and recoup some of the money. Then go and get some rush mufflers. I have a set with the 2 inch baffle and they sound great. A nice rumble at idle/cruising and they bark if you get on it. They remind me of the older offroad only se, but a bit louder. Very happy with rush.
