Default Front Brake Noise

After I installed my chrome lowers I have noticed a noise comming from the front brakes when they are applied. Its hard to type out the sound thats being made, but I cant recall this noise before the swap. You can hear the holes in the rotors when the brakes are applied. Any Advise?

if all you hear are the holes in the rotor your good even a slight dragging sound is ok as long as if the front tire is off the ground and when you spin it it makes a coup;e revs

Recheck the torque values on your axle, pinch bolts and calipers.

Mud, I'm pretty sure reading somewhere else here in the forum that the rotor holes making noise is perfectly normal. I definitely hear mine when the wheel is turing with brake applied. (It is a hard sound to describe, almost thought I had some sort of ABS or something when I first got the bike.) You should not hear it without the brake applied, and agree with Richinlc, slight dragging sound no brake applied is normal for me too.

mine started doin the same after I painted my lowers a few weeks ago, no clue why. took the caliper of and spun the wheel while on the jack, smooth as smooth can be. caliper back on, same dragging noise that wasnt there beforehand. I've been told it is totally normal but it does bug me because it wasn't like that before i took it apart.

American Iron had an paragraph about caliper noise this month. Seems as though Brembo calipers have that perforated cover on them that has a tendancy to be loose and make a noise like you are describing. If you have the Brembo, they suggest putting a dab of silicone sealant on the cover to stop the rattle

the change probably due to not having the rotor and pads identically aligned to the way they were prior to removal. If you tighten the pinch bolts to the axle in a different location than previous, a slight(mostly harmless) misalignment can occur. also the chroming/painting can slightly change the offset of the brake mount to rotor. Very slight differences resulting in more noise and drag. Probably can be adjusted out. Will be time consuming though.

the caliper has to be mounted where the disc is centered between the pads, if not, then the noise will seem to sneak up on ya. just got your caliper off center from the rotor sounds like. pads will wear to compensate, but i'd relax the bolts and find it's happy spot. then torque things in place.

My Fat Bob has made a noise in the front brakes since got it. Kinda sounds like a seceda (locust). My buddy had a Big dog that made the same type of noise. Only when the brakes are applied. Just figured it was normal.
