I just got off the phone with the dealership and I was told that Harley considers their "Limited Edition" numbered tins as "protected parts". As others have stated, they don't want two of the same number floating around. Since I'm not buying another numbered set and am having the new tank numbered as the original, the old one has to be returned.
are they going to give you a replacement tank? they should! there is no reason you need to pay for the tank and send your old one man... numbers or no numbers! tell them you want a raw metal one and you can sell it on ebay or to one of us... least make some money on the deal, HD F&$#'s us every way from sunday there is no reason they should get both tanks... i understand the #'s deal but they should still replace the tank... tell them to strip it and send it back!
honestly it would be cool as hell to get a tank like your old one an rig that up on your sons sporty! that would look insane! then slam the tail of that thing! very cool!
I 100% agree with Joe and the others ! YOU paid for that tank, it's no longer HD's to concern them selves with ! I'd either keep it, get another tank to replace it with, or... for the price of the #d tank, have a blank tank painted, or something ! YOU paid for the 1st tank, and for the 2nd tank too !!!! They're yours.
