Another note..... If I do 90 on a 95 degree day Its no big deal, Try it on a 38 degree morning and its a whole different story.Man the air is a lot thicker .

I've not broken 100 on mine, don't plan to either. It's not fun for me, and I don't feel like the Dynas are designed for it. Not enough wind protection, for one. At that speed I'd like to be tucked in behind something

I dunno, but something tells me at 4000rpm you lift the throttle yes you should get somw back firing, it is called engine braking.

I frequently exceed 100 mph on mine, but never just turn loose of the throttle, I kinda ease it back down to a more comfortable speed. I don't get any back fire that way. I seem to have a personal mission everytime I leave work to get as far away from it as fast as possible.

80 to 85mph for me cruising just a little over 3000rpm feels stable.

When you close the throttle; you're leaning it out a bit and can backfire if conditions are right.....the first Goldwings actually had a closed throttle enrichner that gave a little fuel when you shut down the throttle to keep them from backfiring.

Do you have a tach? 4000 rpm at 100 mph in 6th is a little high. I've done 90+ on my bike in 4th and didn't hit the rev limiter.

Default Cruising rpm

I guess, for those with a tach, it comes down to is what rpms you can reasonably cruise at?

Is it ok to cruise at 4,000 rpm? say 30mph through town in 1st gear (or what ever gear would get you to 30 mph at 4K)

2,500 to 3,000 is comfortable for me in any gear.

when i am on a long haul... i do like to hit 100 every so often. i have never experienced a backfire or the bike being unstable. i also do not run a windshield. 85 to 90 seems a bit more comfy than 100 to me.
