Searched and searched and think I am gonna put a two up Sundowner on my 02 FXD. I am a bit concerned with what many are saying about the seat being butt ugly on some bikes. Can someone post pics with a stock two up vs. the Sundowner on a mostly stock FXD so I can see a difference? I really want to add some comfort for my wife. She needs off after 50-60 miles at this point. I can go at least 100 before seeking a stretch.
Told her what some have said about the sundowner and she said "not if it's ugly!"
Don't have a pic but i'll confirm the ugly part. Unless you have saddle bags it looks out of place. I bought one and then sold it after i couldn't get past how bad it looked. On the other hand, it was comfortable, and you can't see it when you're sittin' on it
honestly its not the best looking seat but hey i ride 4 to 500 miles about every sat and sunday and its comfortable.
When i want the look and iam not going far or the wifes not riding i have a solo seat.
Keep your factory seat and buy the sundowner for long hauls and wife riding with you only takes second to change out and the comfort far out ways the look.
I think I can help. I just sold my Sundowner, it was nice, but hurt on the long hauls. Everyone's **** is different. I now have a heated Corbin that I love.
Sundowner:
I actually can't seem to find a picture of the stock seat, I shed it quickly. Sorry.
Who are we kidding - it's butt f'ugly on all of the dynas - not just some. I have the tallboy but it's basically the same look as the sundowner. But the wife won't ride on anything else. So, sometimes you have to forego looks for comfort.
Here's mine a few mods back with the 2-up setup with the seat. Doesn't look so bad but I'm not a huge fan. But can ride for hours with that seat.
If there's ANYTHING on a HD that must be a function-over-form decision, IMO, it's the seat. Without one that works for you, any distance will be torture, and you won't care what it looks like at that point. Forget the look, get the one that your **** will agree with
