Default short guy mods with pics

I consider myself to be relatively short. I’m 5’8’’. My inseam measures 31”. I spent some time getting comfortable on my bike and thought I would share the mods that I have made to this point. I bought this super glide on New Year ’s Day this year. The bike was stock. I found that the mid controls were doable for me. I did feel slightly cramped after a while. I rode a sporty with forwards and really liked that riding position. So my first comfort mod was forward controls. I installed HD forwards. This didn’t turn out as well as I was hoping. It took some effort to keep my feet on the pegs. After a moderate ride I was tired. My feet always felt like they were slipping. I then considered floorboards or heel rests. I found a set of pegs with heel rests at JC Whitney for $34.99. I thought I would try them out and if I liked them I would buy something nicer. When they came I was really surprised by the quality. They look just like Kury iso. So they are on for now. I adjusted the heal rest to be very horizontal. Feels like floorboards.

Because my legs are short they were hitting the stock air cleaner and the horn. To apply the brake or shift I had to turn my foot in (pigeon toe). I found Kury made a longer brake pad and shifter peg: ISO Longhorn. These made braking and shifting much easier.

So next was the seat. I found the front of the seat was too wide for my short legs. I thought about a new seat but decided before I bought a new seat I needed to figure out how wide the seat needed to be. I then did my own seat mod to narrow the seat. The whole series of pics is documented in my albums but here are a few. I just pulled the staples. Cut the plastic. Cut the foam and restapled the seat. I bought an electric stapler for $29.99. The stapler shot T25 staples. I should have got the smaller gun. You really need to shoot T20 staples. So after I was done I returned the gun.

I still was bothered by my leg touching the air cleaner. Finally I replaced the stock air cleaner with the Screaming Eagle Heavy Breather. This made lots of room for my leg.

There you have it. Next on my agenda are bars. I’m still running the stock buckhorns. They have me leaning forward a little. I don’t mind that too much but I think some tweaking could make it better. Hope the vertically challenged find this post useful!

Yeah, I booted the football for the SE-HB also...yanked my horn, too. I'll find an out-of-the-way place to reinstall it, though.

I relocated my horn behind the battery box. It is totaly hidden. Now I need to put a little something in the place of the horn bracket
