09streetbobber: would definitely fab some fender support if you plan on bobbing the reat of your strut - but it will look sick - go for it!

dpriest: Why don't you lower your rear end to reduce the gap between the tire and fender. It would look better IMHO, but you may need it for 2-up. Also, I'm thinking about wrapping my headers - is your wrap pewter ot tan. Looks great!

you really need some extra support, the fenders are real thin

thanks, i already lowered the rear shocks by one inch. i dont think i would lower the suspension any more. this winter i'm thinking about chopping the fender some more and cutting off the struts. i dont use the bike 2-up anymore so anything goes. i'm going to lower the fender as much as i can without rubbing. i think it would look awesome.
the exhaust wrap is DEI tan or natural.

i would also like to cut my rear fender but the problem is that i don't know how to cut the rails on either side of the fender as well. i've seen some guys do it but i wonder if they just have it done or did it their self. anyone with some insight?

Cut the rails with anything you have, just be aware that you need to make them look GOOD.

I personally LOVE my 4" cut off wheel on the grinder. I cut almost everything with it. If I owned a plasma, I would use that though.

But, a jig saw, cut off wheel....all work.

If you haven't done metal work in the past, that is a pretty critical part of the bike. I would pay for a pro to do it, unless your willing to get the right tools and experiment on scrap metal to gain experience.

I marked mine with duct tape, it can be stuck and re stuck over and over until you get it right. And then cut it with a Dremmel here I am in my high tech safety goggles.

After much sanding and paint

Done

Get you a 4" grinder with a thing cut off wheel , and it will take about 1 minute to do. I wouldn't use duct tape, but that's just me. Duct tape has some of the stickiest crap I've ever seen to get off of a freshly cut fender. Green masking tape comes right off, and cleans up pretty easily. Good luck with your project. Tell me you're not cutting the rear fender on your new Road King.
