Tim, the tear down process is fairly basic. There's not much you can't do to these machines as long as you have a service manual and some patience. About 3.5-4 hrs start to finish. I figure 7-8 to assemble.
Are you doing just cams and heads?
I so want to tear mine down, you guys are making me jealous,
tweakin, did you tear yours down again, thought you just got it tuned, etc?
The more I work on these engines and read the service manual, the more it appears that they are relatively easy and basic engine to work on, simple design. What would be nice is a thread on what you can use in place of some of the $$$$ special H-D tools needed to work on these engines. If there is can you point me to that post.

Yeah Tweakin built the motor and put in the Andrews 37H but didnt do anytihng with the heads. We all went on a long ride and I think the "Harley bug" made him decide to do the heads and also change the cam to the Andrews 54H. So his bike has been tore down about two weeks now but should be back together by end of this coming week. Im sure after this it will be something else for Tweakin.....LMAO. I am just glad I have these guys close for when I jump into mine.
im getting ready to do the cams and then the 103 kit but havent decided on either the andrews 37h or the 54h.. it looks pretty scary with the bike all torn apart eh?
