I pick up a bob resently. I found this here forums and have spent countless hours on here. The question i have is out there but i have not read a concret answer. Here it is: I am putting screaming eagle pipes 80419-06 with the highflow filter 29440-99L. I asked about the PC111 at the dealer and they said that was junk and said just the download works. I had asked my family mech about it, who also owns a couple harleys, and he says he trusts the dealer. I am hearing about the SERTs and other things. I want to know what will make my bike run the best and i am on a budget. I am not worried on becoming the fastest bike or the loudest just mech sound. The question is What do i go with the slip-ons and airfilter?
Honestly there are a million different opinions. For just something straight up and if you are doing teh high flow air filter (which you should do) the DFO is a great cheap solution. For a better performance solution but costly try the terminal Velocity setup or the SERT. I have recently become a little less enthused with the PC3 for the o6 EFI setup.
Consider not getting slip ons. Get some actual pipes like Bassani which will increase your performance and cost the same. Slip ons are not a true stage 1 upgrade in terms of improving teh performance of your bike. If you are spending the money you might as well get the performance for it. Bassani Pro Streets will cost you around $425.00.
Hi StreetSalvation
i#m in a similar boat to you, on a budget of sorts, and want better sound, looks etc not top mph, and have been on here gathering info for a while.
From what I gather you have a few options, ...most imortant 1... dont blindly trust the dealer. There probably great but Each has a completly different opinion....based on god knows what....maybe what theyre familiar with, what they have in stock, what they can get best markup on, what their guys are best at fitting etc. anyway...some options i've considered based on info gained here:
HD download - cheapest option. dealer add news map to your injection system. A lotta guys get the wrong map by accident or dealer confusion. Check carefully. If you get the wrong 1, or next year you buy new pipes, then you start all over again. no flexibility to tweak.
TFI (also called DFO, Techclusion) - a black add on box, that you can fit yourslef, and tweak a few settings with a couple of buttons on the box. Good video on this forum showing an install.
PowerCommader - A little more pricey. Another add on black box. can tweak a little more. You may even be able to contact the manuf. to get alternative downloads if you change e.g. pipes later.
SERT (Scr. eagle race tuner) - another little bit more expensive, and more involved, but from what i understand...ultimate control???....even more so than the old days with your screwdriver and a bag of jets and needles for ur carb.
info on all of them here somewhere. check the tech areas also.
goodluck!!!
Thanks to both ya, I was looking at different pipes but i really like the the whole tappered look. I fond a pair of v&h that did the tapper but it was not for a 06 with the sensor. How much is the SERT and were can i get it?
SERT www.zanottimotor.com Order online for $357 plus shipping. If in PA then add sales tax. Just got mine from them. I am in PA. I had it in 1 day. Good luck.
i have the pc111 and its the best thing i did to my bob the dealer just pushes their product the pc111 has alot of tuning plus a free xcelarator pump for more horsepower
