Aluminum Gas Cap

From another post I got a look at bberck's chrome gas cap and boy I wish I had a chrome one but from waht I saw they big $$ for a cap. One of these days I'll find one for a decent price but for now I figured I see what I could do with my dull aluminum one.

I took some never dull and polished it up a bit, then took a piece of 2000 grit sandpaper and polished some more, next some steel wool dipped in Mother Alum mag wheel polish and polished even more. Buffed it and put a coating of wax on it. Not sure how long the shine will last but for the 10 minutes of work I put into it it sure looks nice.

First pic is before and the second is the after. And yes that is my reflection on the second pic!

If you take a little more time and some Mothers Billet polish that sucker will SHINE! Here's what the tunnel of my snowmobile looked like. No power tools or anything, just old fashioned elbow grease. Well that and maybe a few Bud Lights
