Like I said he did give me half of my money back. I probably should have filed a dispute with PayPal, but for a $75 pair of shocks I figured I'd take my chances. They did look fairly new, but the progressive tech told me they usually last at least 15,000 miles so maybe not.
As far as Progressive customer service, they said they can't honor the warranty because I don't have a reciept (expected). They told me it would cost aprox $100-120 to replace the dampers or they could give me a discount on a better model (430 or 440). I don't know if I'll ever buy progressive again.
So they say the shocks usually only last 15,000 miles? Holy crap that means every 2 years and probably earlier they will need to be replaced. I have 11 inch 412 Progressives on mine and if they only last as long as they say I won't be buying them again.
My Progressive 412s have around 30,000 miles on them and they don't leak. In fact I just took them off of the stiffest setting and moved them to the middle setting.
My 412's lasted about 15,000 and one developed a leak. Although I did like the shock I wasn't about to continue to spend those $$ every year or so. I replaced them with 440's which have a lifetime warranty. Have a little over 5k on them so far, and very happy with their performance.
