'06 Dyna drain plugs

When I changed the engine oil I noticed that the drain plug was wrapped in some sort of tape I think, maybe PTFE? This was before the dealer did the 1000m service so it must have come from the factory this way.

I just had the primary plug out and this is wrapped or coated in the same way.

Question is, should this be cleaned off and wrapped again and what is it? (They have 'O' rings as well.)

The other thing is, how are you supposed to torque a bolt when the thread is not 'clean'?

Same with mine. An HD dealer mech told me he uses teflon pipe tape to ensure against leaks. Perhaps thats what you discovered.

Definately clean them, but I did not rewrap them. Just made sure it was phree of debris, and that the O-ring was not damaged.

I assumed it was loc tite. Like Phreak I just wiped it off and put it back, no leaks here.

It's white loctite from the factory. You don't need it. Clean em & re-torque. Mine had it too.
