Glad to hear you and your boy are ok. I can't imagine what went through your mind at that moment... knowing that your boy was on the back. My boy is getting close to the age were he will be able to ride with me. One of my biggest fears is something happening while he's with me on the bike.

I don't even remember fish tailing it. got that info from another driver who seen it happen. he said that i was fish tailing it and look like I was going to save it but then we went down. not a good feeling. shook me up pretty good

Road rash SUCKS! Ask me how I know! I agree about the highway peg comment, I don't get on mine unless I am going 55mph+ on a highway.

Thankfully everyone is ok. Not sure if you are from the US or not, but most ambulances in the US are supposed to have their sirens on as well as their lights when they approach an intersection to warn drivers. I know that doesn't always help because I rarely hear sirens until I am already on top of them (unless they are traveling on the same line I am).

Just had a friend do the same thing about a week ago; some guy on a honda for no reason locked his breaks and layed his bike down. My friend panicked as well and slammed the breaks in a turn and layed his bike down as well. Was wearing the same as you got his foot trapped under the bike and his boots saved his foot. Road rashed his arms and hands (no gloves either). Thought he broke his wrist, but didn't get an X-ray. we cleaned it up, splinted his wrist, he was able to ride his bike home. He decided to take the opportunity to look into powder coat a new color on his tins. With his wrist hurt he wasn't going to be able to ride for a few weeks anyway.

Again, glad you and your son are ok and able to walk away without serious injury and without serious damage to your bike (less of a concern then you & your son's health).

The road rash was painful for many weeks.

Did you have a helmet on? Did your son?

Agreed. My friend usually rides with his wife on the back (newlywed) and was thankful that she wasn't on the back. He had the same feelings; what he experienced was nothing since he was able to walk away and that his wife wasn't on the back (didn't get hurt). I am sure I would feel the same way if my wife was on the back and we went down.

Again, so glad everyone walked away and that your son was not hurt in the incident.

I agree now 100 %. I have mid controls and don't really like that leg position. but in traffic where things can happen fast, reaction time is critical. thanks for you comments.
