My father wants to add the HD chrome kit and has a question.
He said he can't order the kit for his bike without the mid-control holes in the primary. He has forwards on it and wants to eliminate that plug he used (might as well since he's buying a new primary cover)
Now, can someone give some insight? He gets a 15% discount on his parts, but did not know if buying all the chrome parts separate, like buying the primary cover for a fatbob, and each piece would cost more than the "kit" you buy. I think he said it is $640 or so with his discount.
The chrome kit saves alot off buying the parts individually. I know when I did mine I was going to just do a Primary cover at first but they wanted around $300 just for it and I got the kit online for around $500.
I forget exactly but pretty sure it was well over 1k if bought all the parts seperate. You can go to the HD website and look up the parts then just take his discount off. You can also save 20% if buy online.
I bought mine from Chicago Harley but there has been a couple price increases since I got mine.
ya you have to buy the primary for fat bob or wide glide to get it with out the hole. Kit saves a lot of dollars and they do make a chrome plug for the hole
Your fathers has a few options
1- buy a chrome inner primary for a Wide Glide
2- remove the shifter shaft and plug the hole in the primary-- requires pulling inner
3- cut the shaft inside of the primary
If he is going for the bling thing he might just want to do the chrome inner primary
As for wear to buy you may even want to check Ebay
I picked a used chrome primary up on ebay for about 60.00. It does have the shifter hole but I used the Kury forwards and the chrome ****. Ya never know might want to go back to mids.
