Question Front Spacers Question

When I changed out my front sliders for chrome ones the instructions said to use a drill bit to when I tighten the lower pinch bolts. The leg was supposed to be resting against the drill bit. But when I do that there is a gap between the leg and the spacer. Is this correct? Or should I move the leg in to take up the space between the fork and the spacer? Will post pics of it when I get home tonight.

I remember being a little corn-fused by that when I did my chrome lowers. As I remember, I put a snug-fitting rod thru the hole, tightened the axle nut, squeezed the lowers together to take up any space & tightened the Rt-side lower's axle retaining clamp bolts. Memory of the process is a bit foggy, but I think that's how I did it.

if the rotor and the caliper do not line up - then you know it was not done correctly.
