Hi All,
This is a strange one. Ride steady and the bike performs perfect, not a problem.
Ride like you stole it and when you come to a stop the tickover is very slow and if you dont blip the throttle she will die.
Starts up straight away and runs ok.
Anyone got an idea what it may be causing this to happen ?
Bikes an 07 FXDCI with BSS, K&N and a PCV.
Had the same problem with a Fuelpak fitted, and was also the same with standard aircleaner, BSS and no fueller.
If I take it to the dealer I am sure they will just blame the PCV as they are useless.
Any ideas welcome.
Ride safe,
Jeff
You may want to start checking your fuel pump and hoses (inside your tank). I think I remember some posts relating to this type of symptom, and turned out to be fuel delivery related...
Thanks for the replies.
I will get some throttle body cleaner and start with the IAC. I suppose its got to be removed for proper cleaning, does the tank have to come off to gain access ?

just get some plain ole' carberator cleaning spray. Remove your air cleaner somewhere there may be very little dust just in case. Fire up your engine, roll on the throttle and spray some cleaner around anything inside the air intake that you can see is dirty.give it shots of cleaner you don't want the engine to stall out during this time.you rev givie it a shot the bike may cough and sputter but that's ok.when it looks clean stop the engine and re-assmble yourA/C-your done.
You see,as I understand it, the IAC takes a reading at start up,if dirt keeps the iac open a tad the ecm will read idle too high and cut gas-boom you stall. but only at idle! This is no emergency,it should reset itself ionce you turn the key off and back on again sitting at a light or stop sign,or even on the go depending on your riding skills cowboy!.
Thanks Maddghost,
I will give it a try tomorrow, is it important to do this with the engine running, its not just a case of spray, let it dry off and then start the engine.
Thanks,
Jeff

The instructions will be on the can,My can said spray with engine on moderate revoloutions spray for 1 to 2 seconds ,wait for engine to return to normal rev. repeat as necessary, Caution: do not allow engine to stall out with fluid in the system.
It won't really take alot she'll be clean as a whistle in two or three sprays-your done! The engine has to be on so the stuff gets sucked in and cleans other parts on it's way through and can't leave residue or drip any place else in the meantime.

i was told that you should use throttle body spray on the AIC as TB Spray is safe for electronic items such as AIC and other sensors... while not all carb cleaners are sensor safe...

So far most folks here use carb cleaner and were ok,I haven't had to re-do mine since last year.
