I did the 30 tooth pulley mod on my '09 Street Bob (I started a separate thread about it a couple of weeks ago) and am VERY happy with the results. Still using the original belt with plenty of adjustment room leftover.

http://www.axiomcycles.com/pages/ite...temsection=129 You need a socket and electric impact to get it off but you will be happy with the results.

How deep does the socket have to be? I saw a 2.25 or 2.5" socket at the auto parts last night and it was probably 3"+ deep.

By dropping 2 teeth, the bike runs in a numerically higher or lower rpm?

Doesn't the WG have a 34t pulley? I seem to remember seeing a post from Mudd with the details but didn't bookmark it.

The socket needs to be about 4.5 inches deep. It has to clear the length of the shaft once you get the clutch and basket off.

Numerically higher, i.e. more RPM to reach the same speed.

Depends on the year.

hey guys, sorry if this has been discussed or if it is a relatively novice question, but how will the 30t pulley affect the lower gears? I was told by a service tech at a local dealer that although I will feel the benefits in 6th gear, 1st and 2nd gear will be drastically affected and that I will be shifting MUCH more quickly...to the point where the bad (1st\2nd) out weigh the good(6th).

Thanks

Thanks Paul,

Bucket13,

It will of course affect all the gears, and you will have to gear-up more quickly, that's the whole point !

I haven't heard of anybody switching back to the 32T, I know I'm very pleased with the results, the stock gearing is too tall with the 6 speeds.

Kerry, thanks for the info. I wonder if it isn't cheaper to buy that socket, cut it and weld on another to make up the difference. I think I can get a friend to do that for me.

By the way, 07 WG....
