Kerry, thanks for the info. I wonder if it isn't cheaper to buy that socket, cut it and weld on another to make up the difference. I think I can get a friend to do that for me.
By the way, 07 WG....
Buy a cheap socket, cut it in half and weld a piece of pipe in the middle. Cost me $12.
As mentioned earlier, changing one tooth or two down in the front has been a main stay for sport bikes for a long time and always the first mod I make to any new bike. Good to know that it also works for HD's, now I know what my next mod will be for the Dyna.
Just completed the 30 Tooth Andrews Pulley conversion and just did 130 miles of Twisties today in the Central Idaho Mountains and I could not be happier. On all my bikes I have been into the 1 or 2 tooth smaller primary, But the 09 6 speed FXDC really needed it and this mod along the other mods to date....have really added the torque and response when and were I want it.
If you are considering the 30 Tooth Change....Go for it...I sure am happy with the results. 6th gear is now very useable!!!
I'm going to be doing some motor work to my dyna in a month or so. This will definitelly be one of items to do on the list. Is the Andrews kit the way to go if I am going to do this?
Yeah, it's just a pulley, nothing else. You'll actually need 2 primary gaskets, the inner and outer, and primary fluid. And you need to replace 5 "sealing fasteners" that attach the inner primary to the case. And you'll need a 2.5" deeeeeeep socket to remove the nut from the pulley you're replacing. You should be able to reuse your stock belt. And Gary's comments reflect what I am seeing, too. Harley should have shipped these bikes with the 30 tooth pulley. It really wakes them up. I'd be interested to see how a stage 1 bike with the 30 tooth pulley (like mine, for instance) would do against a stage 2 or stage 3 bike with stock pulley... I'm heading to the Tail Of The Dragon next month and am meeting up with a bunch of Yamaha Roadstar Warrior riders (I used to ride a Warrior). I know a lot of them are eager to show me how much quicker/faster their 1700cc bikes are than my 1584 is. Should be interesting. I'm not so much worried about being able to GO fast. My main concern will be the brakes on my bike. Gonna have to concentrate on riding smoothly through the twisties rather than braking hard before entering the turns. Stay tuned...

What would be the difference if a rider with an '06 installed a 'rear sprocket' and a new belt from an '07 or newer compared to installing a 30 tooth tranny pulley ? I feel Harley screwed me for the second time, first they came out with a '96 motor and now I find out they changed the gearing. lol
So for a rider with an '06 what would be the way to go, tranny pulley or rear sprocket and new belt ?
