I bought the cheapo 8" fake leather one from Harley for $20. I have 3" risers on my bike and attached it there. It fits nice and serves the purpose. If I was going to attach it below the headlight I'd go with the bigger one. I can put a hat, gloves, wallet, cel phone and keys with no issue. Yesterday I hade a box of golf ***** in there (12 in a box).
I have a heavy leather "tool" bag that sits just forward and about even center of the horizontal axis of the handlebar. It is bolted on (and the bag itself, stiffened) via a support I crafted out of some flat chrome windshield hardware and attched to the bars by two kuryakin "P" shaped quick clamps. All hardware is allen/button head chrome.
Within the bag lives my rain gear (I'm in S. Fla. and the bike is a Daily Driver).
The situation of the bag seems to act as an wind deflector as the amount of air on my chest and face is greatly reduced by the position of the bag.
Forty bucks, I think... plus the cost of the nuts/bolts/etc.
Jim aka kiltiemon (I'd post some pics, but that is (currently) beyond the scope of my expertise!)
I have the soft leather HD one like bbreck and i mounted it right on my triple tree right on top of my headlight its easy to get to and quick with having velcro and a zipper
I tell you i waited and hesitated on getting one but dam its by far the best thing i have bought put my phone smokes spare clear glasses in it and other things

I have 2 of them. One is real heavy duty leather, (paid 60 bucks), the other is fake leather, (paid 20 bucks). You get what you pay for. I bought them at different leather/bike shops. The el cheapo is used for a sort of solo mini-bag which I mount off the swing arm (storage for ear plugs, sunglasses, candy bar, bandana etc... ,
The heavy duty bag is mounted at the bottom of the frame. (used to store small tools ie: allen and torx wrenches). It gets road grime on it, but the heavy duty leather holds up great. I wash it and use mink oil on it once or twice a year to keep it nice.
Cheers,
Tom
