I changed my plug wires to taylor thundervolts 8.2 mm
these wires have a ferrite spiral wound coated core along with 50 ohms of resistance rfi and emi compatible
my question is will these do damage ?spoke to a H.D mech who said those wires deliver a harder spark and over time will
cause problems with my ignition ... whose got 2 cents
Are those wires designed for a HD EFI System.......
Prolly not.....
You are messing with the ECM's ability to monitor and modify spark requirements, as well as sensing the complete and proper burn of the combustion chamber contents....
It's called ION Sense....
The coil sends out a constant 80 vdc and the ECM picks it up, and adjusts accordingly.....
I ve had them on for a month no light yet ...they said for 00-06 dyna models
however I saved old wires and will put back on I just read your info in the tec section about it
thanks bob

How about the SE plug wires that are a larger diameter, are those ok?
I switched to those and have had no problems at all. I know that the ion sense is still working because when I data log with the SERT sometimes I'll get a rare knock and the system still retards timing.

More snake oil. They are no better than stock. You might also have trouble using a inductive timing light or ignition sensor for a dyno if the wires are too big around.
