How about a shim made from plumber's tape? The 2 sided abrasive tape plumbers use to rough up pipe before soldering.

I also saw the Harley bushing for $40 and thought what a rip off. I ended up buying a pair with chrome washer tops on ebay for $12 from Drag Specialties

You still got ripped...coulda had them for $9.95 from HCCC... lol

Helicoil the riser threads and then use a punch or chisel (lightly)to mark up the bars for more grip. This is simple and will take care of that issue. Poly risers are a must in our book for apes too.

BINGO, this is exactly what I use and it works like a charm.

It's webbed abrasive on both sides and waterproof.

Best part about it was it rang up as $.10 in the self check out at home depot...

I had the same problem with the stock HD risers. I didn't know what to do, I even took them to the HD dealer and they couldn't help. But, I got some help from a small chopper shop. We put in longer bolts but the most important thing was to tighten the rear (tank side) bolts first. I haven't had a problem for 3 months. I ride a fair amount too, I have 23,000 miles on my 06.
