You have three adjustments on those shocks, compression, rebound and preload. I have shocks that are 330mm fully extended (320mm plus 10mm adjust) and that is 12.99 " and I don't think they are too high(Dynas scrap too easy IMO) I like the extra travel and ground clearance. Peace.

That can't be right 97mm is less then 4 inches and 27mm is a hair over an inch. I don't know of any shock spring that is 4" inches long and 1 inches in diameter !

Like everybody else I think the Sportster shocks would be too soft but at $75 you might want to try them out, if you don't like them you could probably re sell them to somebody on the Sportster forum.Another idea for you is you could get a set of Electrglide take offs on Ebay for the same price and they would definitely be an improvement. They're about the same length as the Sportster sport shocks and they're definitely sprung for a heavier ride.

Inthered, you're right, I misunderstood the numbers stampedon the spring. won't help answer the original question. Jay

Jay you misunderstood your spring number. I did give you a spring chart and a newton to pound converter. If you go to the chart and put the Ohlins spring number you would see that that spring is a 220 mm length, 46 mm inner diameter, 62 mm outer diameter, wire diameter 8, rate=27 newton/mm (around 150 lbs/inch), and a 126 mm stroke.

as I've seen some pretty big dudes (and dudettes) on sporties, I can't imagine they wouldn't be able to handle me and my girl 2-up. Any ideas?
To answer your question, I have has a set of those Showa shocks (and still do) and put them on my FXR. Everyone here is correct in telling you the spring rate is too light. The next thing is where are you going to get them rebuilt? All shocks need to be rebuilt. The next thing is what valving are in them as I have never taken them apart. When you need to change the spring rate you will also need to change the valving to make them work correctly. I noticed the first thing was the shocks bottomed out even at rest when pushing down on the seat. A good indication to things to come. I confirmed my findings within a few thousand feet. They look really cool and racy, whey will not work for your application. No free lunch. I was riding single up. I have no idea how they will work for you.

I have a set on my Dyna right now with a heavier spring and they still suck the dampening is terrible even with it set as heavy as it will go.
This is why I just ordered a set of Works Performance shocks.
