1991 fxrs
When I set my sites on an FXR, it was because I wanted the best handling big twin I could find. I did not want a new bike, I wanted something I could get in shape myself....and I wanted a carburator.... I think I have a pretty good start.

I still think that I want mid controls, but this one has already been changed to forwards. After riding it a bit, I have to agree that the forwards are not as bad I expected. If I do switch back. The brake side looks easy and it looks like a cover has just been added to the primary cover window, so it shouldn't be too difficult.....decisions.
I have a few issues that I want to address soon.
- rubber mounted handle bars. I like the bar position, but the first time that I grabbbed a handfull of front brake, I found that the entire bar assembly rotated several inches forward. It is nice that they transfer no vibrations....the mirrors are crystal clear even at idle....but I need more direct feedback from the front end. Of course I have an air assisted front end that uses the bars as a resivoir....If I keep that I need to keep the bars. Is there an easy way to solid mount it? I haven't looked too closely yet.
- Brake lines. My brakes are mushy and I'm sure bleeding would improve them quite a bit, but I want to add braided SS lines. I have dual front dics. Is there a pre-made kit availble or do I need to get one fabricated?
- more to come.... thanks

That is actually a good looking bike from what i can see in the pix. Congrats....I like the evo era for HD.
Welcome to the forums by the way.
For the handles bars you can change out the bushings for something a little stiffer, or new probably in this case. I've never heard of air assisted front suspension on these bikes, especially on that old of a bike. It's hard to tell buy it doesn't look like your fork tubes have piping running to the bars. Are you sure because if this guy before you spent that much money on the front end and have stock pipes and not able to keep it clean seems odd plus they look like stock buck horn bars too!
For the brake lines they should have kits out there for it. My dads is only single disk and he has steel braded lines. I'm sure you just have to buy the lines at the right length.
Good luck and I hope I helped a little.

Yeah - it has a shrader valve in the left bar end. The air suspension is a standard feature of the bike. There is a hose entering the handle bar just left of the triple clamp. I THINk the FXRT has air rear as well, but mine is standard with preload adjustment only.
The SS brake lines need to split into two. single master - two slaves. I know it can be fabricated, but don't know if he dual dics are common enough to have readily availlible kits.
thanks,
