Kickstand would only be an issue if it were in gear, not familiar enough with your model to know but some have a sensor to keep you from putting it in gear with the kickstand down. Kills the engine keeps you from getting thrown off ... thought it might also keep the engine from starting.

A pop start would probably get it going, did mine last weekend.

Checking the fuzes is pretty easy.

The biggest one (40A), I'm sure will be OK, you wouldn't be getting any power, lights or anything.

The others, you can pull one at a time and just look at maybe use a magnifying glass if you're not sure what to look for. There will be a "S" curved shape piece of metal between the two prongs if it's good, nothing or clearly open or burnt if it's bad.

Also, if none of that pans out, try getting the diagnostic codes, the attached document is pretty simple. Sorry, know you're saying you're not good with that sort of thing, but give it a read anyway, it's just pushing buttons on the speedo console.

Good Luck,
t

kick stand sensor? is that new on an 09? i have NEVER heard of that on a harley... EVER... to check your fuse box just pull the cover off on the left side of the bike (clutch lever side) jut look at the fuses. on the inside of the cover there will be a list of what fuse does what.

It definitely shows up in the electrical interconnect in the service manual, I don't have one and guessing at how used based on others I do know, but .. never seen one on HD either.

Ruling out the kill switch in the wrong position, I would guess either the handlbar "start" switch or starter relay is bad....For my bike and just in case either go bad, I have a push button end cap on my starter solenoid....20 bucks and 5 minutes to swap it on give me piece of mind knowing I can easily start the bike if the switch/relay craps out.
