Great news dude. And yes, it really does depend on the dealer/shop. Sad, but happy things are working out!

man , i would hardly call the issues you have stated as falling apart, i mean why did it take you a year to notice this discoloration? sound like some pretty minor things IMO

Further inspection showed that there was absolutely ZERO penetration of the weld. Zip, nada, nothing. There's not even any heat distortion of the metal. I guess they had Foreigner's "Cold as Ice" on the PA that day. I showed it to one of the service guys at the dealer, and he said he'd never seen anything like it. Fortunately, I have a friend that's an absolute wizard w/ a TIG torch. He's confident that he keep the surrounding metal (and paint) of the tank cool enough while he lays a nice beat in the gap (after grinding it), that all it will need is some touch-up paint. Fortunately it's in an area that you don't really see unless you look for it. Oh well, just one more thing on the Winter project list.
I'd suggest you remove that tank before your frined puts a torch to it. Fumes are tough to see, but they go Boom !!!!

If this was my new Chevy they wouldn't bat an eye to fix the ****, Harley thinks to well of them self's to take care of there customers no wonder there stock is going to sh*t. This is real irritating.
I had a similar argument with a dealer, who ever assembled my bike put almost no anti-seize on the rear axle so when i got my first flat they had to knock the hell out of it to try and get it out. Then they wanted $60 for bearings.

All on a wheel I had never removed.

It's weird how the dealers are so reluctant to charge things to the MoCo based on warranty it's like the exact opposite of a car dealer...

The seal between the tank and console was "broken" after 3 weeks. I didn't notice at first but did smell a bit too much gas fumes after parked at night. Then one night I topped off the tank one mile from home and lo and behold, in the morning I noticed some liquid and also the leather doodad between the console and seat was bowing up.

Dropped by the dealer the next morning unannounced. They took the bike and two hours later - I was away at breakfast - everything was fixed.

Not really a big deal and fixed to my satisfaction.

Oh don't worry, the tank will be off the bike, and will have been washed out very well. But it's nice to see someone looking out, thanks.

I believe 3/4's of half the crap that happens to our scoots are in the asembly phase at the dealership.
I believe they have these half baked, two bit, shing dingaling varmits with crow bars and hammers assembling the bikes and muckin up everything. pass it off to you and hope you dont notice it.

I have a 98 Evo Superglide and had a 2000 Twin Cam Road King. Road King was like that...It was well cared for but a total Lemon so I rid myself of it. The 98 Glide is paid for, still in the stable with over 100k trouble free miles on her and now I have a bunch of detachables for her so I can tour 1000 miles if I want to without having a dresser any more. There can be a lemon in every batch.

3/4's of 1/2 what is that? like 3/8ths , so 3/8 th of the problems come from the dealer? I'm confused.
