Spotted this being unloaded at Myrtle Beach last week. Like the flames - not sure about the bike as a whole yet. I like it in and of itself but not sure if I like it as the new FXDWG, if that makes sense...
I was a hater when I first saw the pics. But when I went a sat on it and mulled it over, I changed my view on it(I figured I would). It has an ultra low stance, and after the hideous pipes are changed to something after market, it'll be an awesome scooter. I sat on a flamed on just like the one in the op's pic.
I saw a 2010 today at a local dealer. Aside from the pipes, I think they did an outstanding job. Chrome SE dash, chrome rocker boxes, and shorter chrome turn signal stalks. I like it.

Makes perfect sense to me. I personally like the bike - a lot. Especially having seen it in person finally, and having a chance to sit on it and get a feel for the lines of the bike. It's sharp.
BUT......... my personal opinion is they should have unveiled this bike under a new name, saving the "Wide Glide" for a year or two down the road when they decide to bring back the Wide Glide with it's classic styling queues. Bobtail fender (which I understand plenty do not like), apes, and the front end are what make the Wide Glide. This bike only has one of the 3 main features.
I've posted in a couple threads my opinion that it shouldn't be called a Wide Glide and everyone gets bent out of shape. I LIKE THE BIKE.... but it's not the Wide Glide that we've all grown to love (or hate if that's your opinion).
