Went to start bike up this morning and it wouldnt turn right over - not normal - about 7-8 spins later and finally starts - but it wont idle down - likew im twisting the throttle but Im not
Something with fuel sensors or power commander?? Check connectuons and its went or anything
I know pretty vague but not much else to go on
07 streetbob
bike is ridden daily except for last couple weeks
throwing any trouble codes? that be the first thing i'd check. were those 7-8 spins slower than normal??? maybe a loose battery connection... but that dont explain why the idle is faster than normal.
When I washed my bike, water got into one of the PC 5 connectors. Bike ran like absolute crap. Was doing the high idle thing too. Didn't think I was going to get back home. The only way to fix the high idle problem at stoplights, was to turn it off and restart it. Then it would be normal until I got going again.
Got her home and checked both PC 5 connectors, and the "hidden" one had water all over inside. Blew it out and put dielectric grease all in it. Ran fine after that.
Good luck.
thanks for the ideas guys - i should have looked at this before posting as it happened before to me - it was water in the pc connector - but the wierd thing is I have no idea how water got there?!?! trippe dme the hell ourt though!
live in san diego - god knows we havent seen any rain - no offroading it through streams and no washing for quite afew months!
Well I disconnected the lower connector - the 'hidden one' and there had to be 3 or 4 tablespoons of water in the damn thing!
looked old and corroded so im thinking been a long building problem - good news is air compresed dry and she runs like a champ - still wondering how the hell that much water got in there - i do know i need to dielectric grease the hell out of that connector now though
yeah buddy... now you got me wondering. i was having some issues a while back and the bike was running funky. i've only been caught in the rain a few times and dont wash my bike with water. i might unplug mine and check and see whats going on in there.

i tell ya - the bike has been running poorly for a month or two - but chalked it up to need new plugs and tune up - this mornign after finally drying that connector out it is seriously running/sounding/performing way better - better than any tuneup typically improves so im thinking ive had water theere for some time - but NO CLUE how - I dont wash my bike - to the point people almost write 'wash me' on the tank - firtunately all have known how far my boot would be up their a$$
anyway - id check it - and im going to make a point that before anything else - if bike starts running shitty - LOOK HERE!!!
I do also know dielectric grease is supposed to help cure this 99% - ive just been lazy
Good deal, glad that's all it was.
I put grease in the one thats in the open but I was being lazy too.
I don't wash my bike with high pressure at all but the water probably dripped and followed the cable down to the connector and got in.
I got about 6 miles from home when it started acting up... man, it ran really, really bad. Hopefully, I put enough grease in there to prevent it in the future.
