Low Rider Ignition Relo Idea
Since I own a 2009 Low Rider, I have the benefit of having a separate tach and the downside of not having enough room on the console to fit one of those switched (someone correct me if it's been done). The neck ignition is the one thing on my bike that I really hate. I really hate it.
Anyways, while I was out in the garage cleaning my bike up I did some thinking. Harley sells a spiffy Smooth Horn Cover that would be about the right size to mount a flip-over ignition switch in. If I relocated the horn somewhere else, I could mount the switch in the Smooth horn cover, and mount that assembly where the horn was.
I'll admit that I haven't attempted to think through the potential pitfalls. Obviously I'd have to come up with some way of at least partially sealing up the back side to keep it mostly dry and protect it from heat. No idea how to get around that problem yet
Just curious how horrible of an idea this is

I'm probably most worried about how tolerant of the elements the ignition would be in that location (vibration, heat, rain, etc). I'm confident I could make it work, but it'll take some mental elbow grease to work out all the kinks

I searched, but couldn't find the pics. If anyone has a link, I'd appreciate it.

I used a piece of 3/16ths aluminum polished it and sandwiched it between the risers and the riser clamp. Had to remove 3/16ths of metal from the risers to compensate for it, but as you can see from the next photo, theres plenty of room between the plate and the tank to facilitate a larger plate and good spot for an ignition switch
