I have tried the stock windsheild on my old Sporty and got beat up with the wind bouncing my head around.
Just got a '02 wide glide, and bought the detachable windshield thinking it would be better. I still get beat up around
my head, eyes and mouth. It is 19 inches from the top of head light opening to top. Is it typical for the wind to
hit your head and mouth? I was more comfortalbe with my full face helmet and no windshield, but it isn't a HD helmet!
Any suggestions???
Yes, it is the wind coming up from underneath. The FX framed bikes induce this and little can be done about it short of putting ugly fairing lowers on. I finally recognized windshields on bikes like the Wide Glide and Deuce have minimal to no positive effect, and actually can make things worse -- having buffeting versus a smooth airflow. Do I took them off and haven't looked back. And for sure, the bikes look much better.
