I'm swapping stock buckhorn bars for 10" mini-apes on 4" risers (Thanks to Rick1972, I figured out how to mount the speedometer to the risers). The stock cables aren't cutting it, so I'm ordering up stainless steel cables. Only problem I'm running into is finding throttle/idle cables that will fit the new bars & risers. I've made my measurements and need at least 42 inches of housing length in order to run the cables up the new handlebars. I'm pretty sure that all of MoCo's OEM cables (for Dyna and maybe softail, all have a 90 degree bend) have the same travel length measurements, but I'm not 100% sure and I haven't spoken to a parts rep at any of the dealerships that could answer this question. I'll state my question... now...
Are the travel lengths on all Harley Davidson OEM throttle/idle cables the same?
If so, I should be able to pick the housing length I need and forget about the travel length?

Another idea is losing the idle cable altogether. Just put a spring on the throttle arm of the carb, if you still want the dual cable effect without the cable. It'll clean things up a little bit.
I only know of one person on the forum that has done this. It's a lot more common in the "chopper" circles. The spring isn't necessary, but Does make things safer.
