Tell me about your WG!
Happy trails.
from all your other forum posts it seems you are intersted in all the models still or do you have it narrowed down now to the wideglide or deuche? You definetly need to ride both the bikes casue they have many differences, first sit on one that fits your body as they will save you some on modes. Then take em both for a cruise and I am sure you will find they dont ride similiar at all so you should be able to decide which one you like and then go for it. So if you buy a bike and a year or 2 down the road you want another model big deal, There HD's so the value is always good. Dyna's are great bikes, I own 2 of them and HD doesn't have a better model for me.
Good luck with your decision making but some times to much info is a bad thing, walk in and find the bike that is calling your name, You will hear it, we all do, and you will be glad you did

I've ridden a few past models, but not any from 06'. I have gone to the dealer several times because I am being extremely particular about this. I was certain the Heritage was going to be calling me, but I have always longed for the longer, narrower front end. I didn't think I would like the WG as much as I do with the higher hand position but I was surprised to see it felt good. The Deuce also felt natural.
I agree.. too much info can be a bad thing.. but not now!
The WG is a natural fit for me, very comfortable. In the end I was torn between a fat boy and WG. I will say however that the WG in my opinion is the most comfortable ride and has the best looks. I also think it has technology that is better than the softies of 06.
Anyone have opinions on ride harshness and engine vibration compared to the Deuce?
I love the forward controls on the Glide.I tested an 06 Softtail in the Night train, deluxe, and FatBoy versions. The Deluxe felt the best of them, but still felt real cramped. Now coming from an FXR with the mid mount controls, thats saying alot.I dont see how anyone over 5'10" could be comfortable on the Softail frame.I know there are plenty on them, just cant get past the monkey f^&^%in a football feeling.
I hate windshields and can stretch out on the Glide and feel right at home at 60 or 90.Kinda like a built in BowFlex...LOL
Like many of the others on this thread, I think the WG is the best motorcycle HD makes. It is everything I want in a bike and nothing I do not want (sortof - always want more power and the right accessories). I ride on the highway with a tall detachable windshield and Kuryakn heel rests. The heel rests are new ones that take the diamond plate HD pegs and the shield is the tall version. I am considering a 17" Memphis Shades replacement shield that will fit the stock mounting bracket for the reasons others have mentioned. Nevertheless, the ride is fantastic. At 80, my mirrors are clear.
A recent story. In March, I left my house in eastern New Mexico just after sunrise and pulled into Laughlin, NV, as the sun was setting. I am 53 and look it and I rode 743 miles that day. When I got off the bike my butt was not sore, I was not overly fatigued, and had enough energy in my tank to spend 4 hours at the tables after supper (even won that night). For me, the stock seat, the bars, the pegs are a perfect fit. I bought my 06 in August and now have almost 9,000 miles on it. Some have opined here and elsewhere that the WG is not good for touring. I beg to differ.
Of course, this is a very personal decision and the fit for you may not be the same as with me. Good luck on your can't loss dilema.

Have you checked out the Boss Bags? I didn't want saddle bags either. I wanted something that will carry a helmet and my work stuff. I love mine. It even holds a twelve pack of beer in the bottles! Check out my photo album if you want to see mine. The bag I have comes in 3 sizes. I have the medium.
FFS- I hate salesmen. And I am one.
But I did get my mini-sissy and luggage rack ordered. I will need to get a tool bag.. to hold cigarettes, etc (the important stuff..) and the luggage rack will be great for ordinary trips. But I too will probably need saddlebags and will be pestering everyone.
If I get my damn bike.
(Just got done listening to Ron White so I am a little amped. WHERE'S MY BIKE?)
