I love my 06WG! My wife is also in love with it. I have a detachable windshield that I just put on and I'm not sure if I like or not, but I added some heel rests and its the best money I've spent on the bike, besides the exhaust, stage 1, seat.............................................. .......................
Anyone have opinions on ride harshness and engine vibration compared to the Deuce?
The Dyna's vibrate more than the softails as a general rule, but the ride isn't harsh at all. They bounce around pretty good at idle speeds, but they're nice and smooth from about 2000rpm and up. My 06 Wide Glide rides like a magic carpet. The Wide Glide is usually more comfortable for the bigger guys because of the riding position. None of my friends under 6ft tall find my Wide Glide comfortable at all. I wouldn't trade my Wide Glide for a Duece, but people tend to like what they get used to.
I bought a 2000 wide glide on March 12, 06. The previous owner put 3000 miles on it in 6 years. I have put an additional 5000 miles on it and I have had it 3 months today. I LOVE it. I spent 22 years on Goldwings prievious to this. The wind buffeting took a bit of getting used to as I got almost no wind on the Wing. I sold my last Harley in 1984 and didn't feel the need to get another one. I rented a 2003 Heritage Softail and rode it through the Blue Ridge Parkway in November of 01, and have been thinking about a Harley since. My bike has the stock seat and a small Wind Vest windshield. I put a fork brace on it and now I think it is the perfect bike. I ride between 7500 and 10000 miles a year and I am as comfortable on the Wide Glide as I was on my last Gold Wing. It is a different ride and I can't believe it, but I actually miss the radio at times, but I wouldn't trade back for the world. I might consider a touring bike in the future, but for now the Wide Glide is perfect. I have ridden several 5-600 mile days and have not had a problem with stiffness or soreness.
It rides wonderfully and no one makes a better looking bike, in my opinion. Go for the Wide Glide!
My 02 FXDWG3 is very comfortable and one of the best do everything bikes I've ever had.
I've put 13,00 on her over the 19 months I've owned her and enjoy every moment.
I've ridden all the HD models , so far this is my fave.
If I'm riding 2 up I put a Sundowner seat and short sissy on it, or a Corbin gunfighter for Solo work.
She handles the twisties well , have done Deals Gap 5 times and it was great.
Handles the freeway OK , although if I was into that I'd get a bagger. .
