I can't count the number of times that I have been approached and told, "Nice Sportster", or asked "What year Sportster is that?" Now,.... don't get me wrong,..... I have nothing against Sportsters, but I'm just kinda courious as to if alot of other Dyna riders hear the same thing.
Yes, I think it's the fact that both have rear shocks, throws off people. When my low rider was a week old i was instructing an MSF experienced class and a Gold Wing rider asked if my bike was an 883 or a 1200, I told him it was a Twin cam 88 and he started arguing that Sportsters did'nt come with that motor, kind of pissed me off... He was damn lucky the other instructor did the Skill evaluation that day...O'well what do expect from a Winger....
Yeah I agree,........ must be the rear shocks. And all but one of them who asked me were riding metrics, but one was a Harley rider and then his very next sentence after saying nice Sportster was that he just picked up his first ever Harley yesterday, which was a nice Road King Classic, So I just chuckled then, he was a nice enough fella.
Never had that happen to me. I think most folks should clearly be able to make the distinction between a "Sporty" and any other model of Harley based on a visual of the engine and tranny case alone. Not to mention a few other visual ques.
the dynas are the best looking harley going right now. I just think a lot of people are pissed because they are so cheap but yet so sharp looking. When your next to a guy that paid 17-19 grand and yours looks better, yeah hes gonna be a little upset. LOL
