Default Coughing on start up

I have been reading threads about people having problems starting their bikes, but not sure if what I am experiencing is the same. Occasionally when I try to start my bike it coughs and sometimes it seems to spit back through the air filter. I hit the kill switch wait a couple of seconds and try again and usually it will start right up. Is this the same problem that others talk about when they say they have a problem starting their bikes? Or is my situation different? Is this normal? Is there something wrong that I need to have checked? It seems to be happening more often now.

Thanks

I don't think its a big deal, mine does it sometimes too. I kinda feel like it does it when I release the starter button too soon.

Is this problem on bikes with tuners (PCV/III, TT, SERT,...)?

Any similar problem with stock bikes?
