I harrassed people selling their fxdp on craigslist for months before I found a guy in indiana that would sell them seperate. A lot of people pull them off and store them. I paid about 400 shipped then stripped and powdered the cages gloss black. I love the bags more than my tsport bags. They are quick to throw stuff in and yes fit cases of beer real well.

The tall one is a stock 16" shield I painted black on the inside. I run the tall one because it blocks more wind, you have to see over it but I'm tall and it doesn't bother me. 14.5" would be a good height to get though.

I just picked up a set of 8" risers and Biltwell trackers, should be a similar set-up with a little less pull-back. These risers are Drag too, I was kinda shocked when I lifted them... pretty light weight, makes me wonder how strong they are.

It's not a permanent set-up though, just to get me by until I scrounge cash for a set of Forbidden MC risers with Pro Taper bars.

I couldn't see over my stock 16" and I have weird buffering when I cut it down to 11.5" so I hope 14.5" is a good compromise. I should be able to see over it, don't bobble my head, and keep the majority of the bugs off of my shield.

In the process of adding 8" risers and new bars, looks like everything is gonna fit.. minus a little massaging on the brake line.

Couple questions though..

Has anyone mounted the dual gauges sandwiched between the riser clamps? On top will work, but I think it'd be a little cleaner in between. Looks the holes will almost line up, I'll either have to file the bracket down to get the holes closer to the bars or elongate the holes so the bolts will pass through. If done, have a pic?

Also planning on ditching the signals, I've got the tank off but before I start ripping the harness through the backbone can anyone verify if there is actually a connector in there to disconnect them? I've read it goes straight to the rear of the bike into the main harness, others say there might be a connector in there... Don't wanna go through the trouble for nothing, if theres not a connector I'll just chop them and shrink tube the ends.

Don't go ripping out the signal lines out of your back bone you will never get them back through. There are plugs for them in the neck area you jist have to pull them iut a bit. If you want to ditch the sigs I suggest jist cutting the wires at the signals and keeping them out. I cut mine and just wrapped them neatly in with the rest if the expoaed harness. Recently I needed to get a state inspection done and had to put signals back on the bike.

Ahhhh snap! I wish I would of waited for your reply. I got eager and started pulling.... got them out though, getting them back in is being a little more difficult. It'll work though.

Swapped the bars out for something a little taller and more comfortable, it's a temporary set-up until winter when I do a complete makeover. Ditched the front signals too while I had everything apart.

Eventually going to 9" FM risers with a set of Pro-Taper MX bars.

I also have a 14" Cee Baileys black shield on the way along with a Hogrida laydown plate mount.

Other plans for the winter is to fully disassemble then completely paint/powder coat everything black, new tires, brakes, 2-1 pipe, A/C, LED rear light, etc...

Put on some good miles yesterday, man I love this thing.

What kind of mileage are you guys getting per tank, I actually had to hit the reserve at 240km (150mi)... I thought I'd get a little more, but I was on the highway averaging a solid 140km/h (90mph) the whole time though.

Just installed my Cee Bailey's 14.5" Opaque Black windshield.

Fit and finish was perfect, it came packaged very well. They were great to deal with, they kindly "rushed" the shipment to get it out the door. Expedited shipping and it showed up in a week, which is pretty impressive while going through Customs into Canada.

Haven't tried it out yet, but I hope it gets rid of the stupid buffering I had with the chopped stocker that was 12" high.

Only issue is with the gauges mounted that high, I can't quit retract the shield fully into the closed position because it hits the gauges. Shouldn't matter because I ride with it rocked out all the way anyways.

***EDIT***

Just back from a short rip, took it on the highway and I'm glad I got the 14.5".

No more head bobble at 60+ mph... and I can cruise on the highway with the shield on my helmet open again.

I have to have it rocked forward though, I wish I could keep it back as I think it looks better without the gap around the fairing but it seems everyone runs them that way.

The opaque black is nice to, not being able to see through it doesn't seem like an issue as I just can see over it. So it's directly in my line of sight.

Only complaint now is when I pull a wheelie and the bike stands up I absolutely can't see anything which is kind of sketchy. I'm going have to work on hanging my head to the side or start doing stand-ups on the seat, haha.
