Came from a Sportster "48" and just recently bought this 01 T-Sport... I agree LeatherPro, I had every bump and set of train tracks memorized that would break my back if I didn't slow down to a crawl. Hit the worst one at 60mph yesterday and barely felt it. The suspension is awesome on this thing.

Pretty stock on the outside for now, just swapped the lazy boy seat for a saddlemen profiler. Windshield was scratched pretty bad, so I cut it down. Have a black 14" on order from Cee Baileys, also adding a set of 8" risers and swapping bars to something more aggressive. The stock bars are way to low and relaxed for my liking.

Motor was beefed up when it was bought new at the dealer, has a 95" big bore, flat top pistons, shaved/ported/polished heads, cams, adjustable ignition, etc... Runs crazy high compression and I can actually make it detonate if I lug it hard around 2000rpm, which never happens. It also has a hard time starting, so I may pull the heads, install compression releases and add a thicker gasket to bring it down. We'll see when winter comes, it sure romps though... If I dump the clutch in first it stands straight up and I've never cruised comfortably at 90mph before haha... I was worried about not having a 6 speed but i've never once "looked for it" while riding this bike.

Here is my 01 been through a couple phases already. As it sits today with a 97", SE cam plate and upgraded tensioners, mild head work, mikuni 42, racetech front springs and valves, jri piggybacks, Lydall Racing front rotors and pads, Zippers chain drive kit, sputhe stabilizers, fxdp bags, 13" SPF t-bars. Have a daytona ignition to put on next saving money for xr1200 calipers, a rear lyndall rotor and a gpr stabilizer. Might change the 510 cams out for something a little lower in the RPM range.

Awesome thread. HD needs to revive the FXDXT. The Defender saddlebags rule you can easily fit an 18 pack in one bag, probably even a 24 pack but I haven't tried yet. ha ha

Noway, I'm glad they're so hard to find... Every hardcore SOA wannabe would have one if you could buy it off the shelf again.

These things are awesome though, what other bike is as functional that can be comfortable for hours, good storage capability, drag the pegs ground clearance, ride on rails suspension, triple disc, wheelie like a bastard, and look that bad ***, haha.

Your bike is one of my favorites, using it for inspiration on mine... are those stock bars on 8" risers?

I also see that have a 14" and 11" shield? which one do you prefer?

Those are sportster bars on 8" risers. I liked that set up and ran them on my last dyna with 6"risers. I was hesitant to switch to t bars but I really like how they ride and they are way stronger than the cheapie drag specialties risers I had. The short shield is 11.5 and works good. The tall one is a stock 16" shield I painted black on the inside. I run the tall one because it blocks more wind, you have to see over it but I'm tall and it doesn't bother me. 14.5" would be a good height to get though.
