You saying that the 5th gear in the six speed tranny has been a problem? I get a lot of that clatter until I'm at/above 60. Is it because of lugging, or the way the gear is cut? I haven't heard of a problem with 5th until your comment.
Straight cut gears like 5th in 09 and earlier 6 spds are stronger actually and due to being straight cut can cause noise. People complain about the noise which I do not recall hearing, maybe if I listened for it closely I could.
You feel that you're revving high if you're in 4th at 55 for a long stretch? Not anywhere near redline high, but like you feel like you should be shifting up? My bike only has 500 miles on it and I don't need carbon on my valves this early in life if its really lugging.

no,no problem with 5 gear,just a little noisier than others,some don't even notice(esp. with pipes)but it's there,actually I don't think it's taht 5th is that loud,its just that the others are quiet.
