Talking Primary O Ring

Hey Guys, first post.....

Just bought an 09 Street Bob, love it love it....

I'm doing the 1K service myself and I wanted to know if anyone had the size for the O ring on the Primary that I am supposed to replace (according to the users manual). It isn't a part that I have to get exclusively from Harley do I?

Thanks fellas...

O-ring is a size #41 and you need 3 of them.

Primary,transmission and oil plugs

Just a little food for thought. The derby cover o-ring is a one time use one also.

My local HD dealer charges $1.75 each for those o-rings. The auto parts store down the road has the same size o-ring for $0.25 each. I have a bag of them hanging on my garage wall.

Yes, but many have reused the stock derby cover o-ring gasket numerous times with out problems. If you change the derby cover to one of the accessory covers then you will need one of the disk type gaskets and some forum members have reused even those. I would take a chance with the o-ring gasket if it were in good shape and not damaged. I have always changed the disk type gasket, as the sealing material on the disk is very thin.

Right, I did away with the stock derby cover o-ring gasket awhile back when I changed to a chrome primary cover and derby cover. If the o-rings on the plugs are not cut or damaged I always just reuse them.
