Mine stay on almost all the time. I almost always ride w/my wife. She pretty much always brings stuff... or, we buy stuff as we're out & about. Living in the Chicago area, if you are gone more than a few hours, the temperature often changes significantly (Yesterday, it was 74° when we left, 48° when we got home). so we often bring extra clothes & gear.
...but, I do take them off frequently for service and cleaning.
ha ha ha man i need your number! i was out your way tonight on a scoot, just had to get out there and roll a bit, was a long day... i left in a sweatshirt, came home in full leathers ha ha ha ahhh and it is only september! this is my absolute favorite time to ride though! love when the leaves start to change and it has that slight chill in the air, the bike just runs awesome! but it only means that snow is closer... crap! already!

Great feedback on this topic. Always used a T-Bag and or a rucksack, but I've decided that I've just got to have a set of bags.
I like the idea of em being QD, but I also agree that that makes em stick out further. On the other hand I like the slick look w/out em for just running around.
Probably going QD, Now, Ghost Brackets, Bare Backs, or Easy Brackets?
I have easy brackets, and they do make the bags stick out some, but I do not mind. One thing I will say about them is you should remove the nut that holds the locking mechanism in place and lock tite it back on before you mount the bags on the brackets. Mine occasionally vibrated loose and caused the mount to bounce up and down on the bracket and make a rattling noise.
